"Short Cake Swing"

Rylee has been in dance since September and she absolutely loves it. She loves getting to see her friends there, she loves her teacher Miss Bree, and she loves getting dressed up in her costume and doing her dance. On March 24th her little dance class got to perform their dance to "Short Cake Swing" at a basketball game halftime. This was the first time they got to perform for us. They all looked completely adorable! Rylee did SO good! I was really really proud of her. She had even been sick and still went out there and did her little dance so cute! Her whole dance class looked adorable in their costumes. I can't wait to watch them again in April....

March Birthday Madness....

This year I have started posting a blog for each niece and nephew that has a birthday. Well in my family, March seems to be the crazy month, and is full of birthdays. So I will do one post for all of them.

First, I want to say Happy Birthday to my sweet and sometimes shy niece Jayslin. She turned 6 on March 12th.

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY JAYSLIN!!!

Next, we had my nephews birthday. On March 16th, Dylan turned 13! He is officially a teenager. Oh No! He is such a good kid. He loves spending time at my house on weekends and Rylee loves having him around.

HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY DYLAN!!!

Then my little guy Dax had his birthday on St. Patrick's Day. He turned ONE! You can see his entire party on a previous post. He is such a sweetheart. We just love him to pieces. He is always on the go! He loves running around outside and really just being wherever his big sister Rylee is.

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY DAX!!!

Last, I want to say Happy Birthday to my silly and crazy niece Jayde. She is so full of it. She loves being the center of attention and has always had the cutest personality. She turned 7 on March 22nd.

HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY JAYDE!!!

With all these March birthdays it sure makes for a busy month....but it also makes for lots of get togethers and the kids love it!

SNOW?!

I cannot believe that on March 14th we woke up to SNOW! I know its March, but come on, March should be the start of Spring. I guess the groundhog was right, we are definitely having a long winter. I am hoping that it will be the last snow storm we have until next winter. I am so ready for Spring and Summer! One thing is for sure....Rylee LOVES the snow.
She wanted to go outside and play in it, of course. So, we decided we would bundle Dax up and let him go check out snow and play in snow for the first time ever. It was so cute. He wasn't really sure what to think of it. He was only out for a few minutes, but he loved being wherever his big sister was.

Someone up the street from us had built this enormous snowman. I was going to have Rylee stand by it but was a little worried about it tipping on her, so instead we just took a picture of it alone. Its huge!

Goodbye Winter....Hello Spring (fingers crossed)!

Sports...Sports...

...and more sports! I try to make it to as many of my nieces and nephews sports as I possibly can.

On March 13th I took Rylee to watch Trinity & Teyara do their dance competition in Richfield. Rylee loved watching them, plus her friends Ady & Jacee were there to hang out with and dance along to the music, so that was fun for her. Trinity & Teyara had both their regular dance and then Production. They did such a great job and took 1st place!
Good Job Girls!!!

On March 20th we all went to watch my nephew Rylan wrestle. This is his first year and he is going up against kids that have wrestled for years. He did a really good job and took 3rd Place!
Good Job Rylan!!!

Our Lil "Rock Star" is ONE....

Today we celebrated Dax's 1st Birthday! Originally for his party theme I was going to do baseball, but when I saw the "Rock Star" themed party, I had to have it. It fits him perfect! He loves to dance to any kind of music and he has a mowhawk to go right along with the theme. Once I decided on the theme, I decided to take the pictures of him holding the letters O-N-E and create a rock star invitation. They turned out really cute!

I have been prepping for this party for quite some time now (at least in my head). I have been wanting to make a 2-tiered fondant cake for a while and decided it would be perfect for his birthday. I pictured what I wanted it to look like, but was a little nervous to work with fondant. I had read a few horror stories online about it, which made me pretty nervous. (Thanks Ashlee for answering my fondant/icing questions!) When it came down to it, it really wasn't bad...just a lot of mess. And it turned out awesome! I did the star themed fondant cake and then cupcakes to go around it with music notes on them. I have to say I was pretty proud of myself....

For Dax's "tear-into" cake, I made him a guitar shaped cake, which I just cut from a square cake and then frosted to look like a guitar. I think the guitar was more challenging than the 2-tier. Dax absolutely loved it! He tore right into it. It was so cute because he kept looking around as he was eating it wondering why everyone was watching him eat this cake! He even offered everyone around him some by reaching out a handful of cake to them. Such a sweet boy!

During present time, he just wanted the little trucks he spotted on top of the presents. Once he found those, he didn't need to go any further. I got him to help me tear the paper a little, but within no time all the other kids were tearing into it before I could even read who they were from. He definitely had lots of help from all the cousins.

He LOVED all his toys and wanted to play with all of them. He also got some WAY cute outfits, which I LOVED! So thanks to everyone for all the cute stuff!!!

Dax had such a great day! He loved to just run around and play. This is really only about the 2nd time he has been able to just run around free outside and have fun. It was such a nice day and the weather was great. All the kids played and had fun.

We had pizza, music, & balloons everywhere, Dax loved it! The kids played at the park, played basketball, and ran around on the grass. It ended up being a perfect place for all ages to be entertained. Dax loved his cake that mommy made him, and everyone enjoyed the cake I made too. His 1st birthday turned out PERFECT. He was happy and we got to spend it with all of our family. It couldn't get any better!
I still cannot believe that my baby is ONE! Happy 1st Birthday Dax....We LOVE you!!!

Happy 1st Birthday...

...to our little lucky charm! I cannot believe it has been a whole year since we were blessed with our sweet baby boy, Dax. He has brought so much fun and love into our family. There is not a single day that goes by that he doesn't put a HUGE smile on our faces. Rylee loves him to pieces and it has been so cute watching them start to play together the last few months.
Dax is all over the place, running around everywhere he goes! He is such an observer....and loves looking for something to get into. So Curious! He adores his big sister so much. Its so cute watching him get excited and giggle when she plays with him.
In addition to the many words I noted on his 11 month update, he also says ball, uh-oh, and woah! He loves balloons and balls and already has a good arm on him. He picks up a ball and throws it really good to us. He also holds out his arms to catch, but of course doesn't actually catch it. He is one smart little cookie!

For his 1st birthday we went out and took some FUN pictures of him....

And then came the really fun part for Dax...and as you can see, he loved every second of it!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Dax!!! We LOVE you with every bit of our HEARTS!!!

I just can't get me enough...

...of this sweet and silly boy!!! I love him to pieces. He has the cutest personality EVER!

He is always so curious when I am cooking, doing dishes, vacuuming, anything...he wants to be right there checking it out. He doesn't want to miss a thing.

He LOVES pickles and his Daddy too!

But he is still a mama's boy!!! (and I love it).

He has been walking for well over two weeks now, but he just keeps getting better and faster each day. He has mastered turning over the last week and thinks its quite fun to circle around things on the floor. He walks everywhere he goes now! Up until this week he would walk most the time and then crawl other times, but it wasn't so much of a crawl...it was more like a gorilla scoot. It made me laugh to watch. The other funny thing is that he never used his hands on the floor to stand up like most babies would....he would just stand up, no hands, nothing, it was crazy! This boy has crazy strong legs!!!

He is so adorable....whenever I get the camera out and say "cheese" he smiles so big for me. Most the time he is giving me a huge grin the second the camera comes out, before I even say "cheese". He squints his little eyes and gives me the biggest smile ever....

Not sure what it is with him and socks but he always puts socks in his mouth...his own usually, but this time he found one of Rylee's dirty socks. Gross I know, but I had to get a picture before I took it away, it was too cute and funny! He was just walking around the house playing with this sock in his mouth. At one point it even fell out and he picked it back up, stuck it in his mouth again, and began to play some more.

And he knows exactly what he wants....if you ask for a kiss and he doesn't feel like giving any he just shakes his head "no". But when we ask if he wants a bottle or to take a bath, we always know the answer we will get. He starts shaking his head "yes" right away! He is so silly. I just LOVE him to pieces!

Little Boys
Little boys come in all shapes and sizes,
Shy and adventurous, full of surprises,
With misshapen halos and mischievous grins,
Small dirty faces, and sweet, sticky chins.
They'll keep you so busy, and yet all the while
Nothing can brighten the world like their smile.
And no greater treasure has brought homes more joy
Than a curious, active, and lovable boy!
